Enzo Tame, South Africa’s Afro-classical crossover pop sensation hails from the township Nyanga in Cape Town. His sound is inspired by the likes of John Legend, Three Tenors, Michael Bublé, Luther Vandross and Sam Smith.
Crime, unemployment, teenage pregnancy are challenges Enzo witness in the township but despite it all, he has chosen to use his talent and represent those who face these challenges as he wanted to be a part of a team of believers that "all is possible through passion ".
“My past said that ‘I am nothing and I have no ambition’, which meant that I should stay in the midst of others. And so all of my life I've been searching for my purpose until music found me. Music is my salvation!”, says Enzo.
This rising beacon of hope started singing at a tender age, mostly in the church choir. In 2004 he was accepted by the Cape Town Opera to take part in a choral training programme sponsored by Sanlam and this debuted his singing career into the world of Classical Pop music. In this programme he learnt stage craft, music theory, singing lessons aural and foreign languages. He also received classical and voice training at the University of Cape Town from Prof. Hartman. Since then, he has toured and performed on international stages as part of the cast of the Cape Town Opera.
Enzo has subsequently released his debut single ‘Kwakhona” in 2014, which dropped from number 10 to number 2 on the playlist charts on Bush Radio within two weeks. Enzo’s also enjoyed the privilege of sharing stages with Johny Clerg, Loyiso Bala, Zwai Bala, PJ Powers, Gloria Bosman, Vusi Mahlasela, Elvis Blue, Freshly ground.
His near future music career goals are to record a live-concert and shooting his first music video to one of his original songs, together with touring abroad under the management of P’ayeye Entertainment.
With his soulful and enchanting voice, coupled with his charismatic stage presence, Enzo Tame is set to take on the world…
